Special Occasions Supports Making a Difference!

In two weeks The Hero Round Table conference will be setting up shop in Flint's cultural center and Special Occasions is happy to jump on board with the planning. We believe in this conference because this conference embodies the positive changes that we would like to see in our own neighborhoods, schools and local businesses. 

So, what is the Hero Round Table? The Hero Round Table is a conference set up to teach everyday people how to make a positive difference in their own lives and the lives of those around them. The conference seeks to teach the skills needed to stand up for what is right, take action to help others and learn how to create a positive environment around us by giving back. Conference goers will be able to listen to inspiration stories from everyday people who found themselves in a negative situation and who found the courage to stand up for what was right, even when they were standing alone. We will also be listening to real life accounts of heroism in the school system, television and movies, athletes and in corporate America. The uplifting and motivational thoughts presented at this conference are indispensable for our communities, our schools, our businesses and our own lives.

Closing Out Another Amazing Summer with a Bang - Pics From our End of the Season Staff Party

Most of our staff here at Special Occasions are natural born party planners. We love to plan parties, go to parties and sometimes even hosts our own parties. The last one doesn't always happen as much as we'd like it to because we are usually having such a great time planning our clients parties, but at least twice a year we set aside time to throw a party to celebrate our honest and hardworking staff. They are such a great group of people and they all definitely deserve celebration!

This weekend was our end of the summer staff party. We all gathered together, staff and their families, to relax, laugh and just enjoy each other's company. We believe it's important to work hard and play hard. :) It keeps us balanced. 

This end of the season party was a family pool party, complete with a tiki bar and tons of amazing food from Sagebrush Cantina. Boy, was it tasty! Sagebrush is always such a party pleaser with our crew! 

After dinner we all fell into a sugar buzz from the luscious dessert table and even roasted s'mores out by the fire. 

 

Now that we've thanked our staff we'd also like to thank all of you. It is because of those of you who book your own parties with us that we are able to grow and hire these amazing people to work with us. We just can't say it enough that our staff is a family and we are so lucky to have all found each other. Thank you all for another great season and we look to having many more (and possibly adding on new crew/family members) as our company continues to grow. 

Thank you all for your continued support. It means the world to us. :)

It's Open House Season!

Open house season is upon us and Special Occasions is having a blast helping graduates and their families celebrate! Last weekend we designed this event for a high school grad and all of the details came together so seamlessly that we just had to share it.

At this open house guests were welcomed into the event through a fun and festive balloon arch using the school colors of blue and yellow. 

Once inside, the guests could grab a bite to eat and rest at the tables under the big tent or dine poolside at one of the coordinating cocktail tables. 

Under the big top tent the guests were welcome to enjoy a fruit table, candy table and ice cream cart while they browsed photos and memorabilia of the graduate. 

After a fun filled day the guests were invited to join the family at a bonfire to roast s'mores and relax. Seriously, this event couldn't have been any cuter!

Special Occasions Events {Peacocks in Blue Wedding} Grand Blanc, MI

Today we are excited to share with you one of our bride & groom submitted weddings! This wedding, hosted at the Genesys Banquet & Conference Center in Grand Blanc, MI was an event to be noticed. From the clothing to the linens to the accent pieces, this wedding had it all!

Both the ceremony and the reception areas were designed in a peacock inspired theme with rich and vibrant hues of gold, teal, green and purple. The chairs at the ceremony were covered in white chair covers tied off in a green sash. For the reception the bride and groom chose to go with a teal crush floor length table linen accented with white napkins, which were draped down over their gold plate chargers. It was stunning!

Check out this brides bouquet! We love the incorporation of the different brooches. So creative. 

Such a beautiful wedding and a lovely couple! We wish you many years of happiness.

The Cleary University Table Top Competition

This last weekend Special Occasions was honored to be invited to compete in a tabletop competition at Cleary University. The Designer Tabletops event was held at the Johnson Center and also featured a benefit auction to help raise money for student scholarships. 

Special Occasions decided to theme our table after the saying "Putting on the Glitz" since this was sure to be a night filled with fun and glamour.

Our table featured a blush sequins tablecloth, black chiavari chairs with a blush sash and black satin napkins. We even brought along our showroom mascot draped in a matching linen to form a fashionable dress that frankly, we wanted to wear ourselves. 

Overall it was a fun night for a great cause and we were honored to take part in it.

Grand Rapids Art Museum - Real MI Wedding {Spotlight}

Today's featured wedding took place at the Grand Rapids Art Museum 

in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 

The guests enjoyed their cocktails at lovely dressed tables in the courtyard and dinner in the Cook Auditorium. 

The event linen colors were midnight blue satin & blush glitz. The combination was perfect. 

Such a beautiful evening. Congrats to the new bride & groom!

A Blushing Bride : Style Photo Shoot

A few weeks ago we were asked to take part in a stylized bridal photo shoot. Wow, what fun we had!

 For the photo shoot we were able to showcase a few of our favorite linens and work with several other fabulous mid-Michigan companies to put together an end result that was truly amazing. Just yesterday a pretty little CD arrived in the mail containing the images of the photo shoot and the permission to share these photos with all of you! Excited? We are! Let's take a look!
